the luxury to unplug

i remember when a certain ceo of a major tech company said something silly along the lines of…

everyone should take a 10 day digital-detox in fiji

which is hilariously out of touch with all of the society. i mean, it’s good advice, everyone should take a digital-detox in fiji. can everyone? no, not at all.

i had a one-day digital-detox, if you can even call it that. i went up to the mountains, rented a cabin for a couple nights, and read a book. not a whole book, but a decent chunk.

it was nice to be in the fresh air and have no politics or fires or anything else to think about.

i wish i could’ve done that for a lot longer, or better yet, get paid to do that. instead, i had to spend a good chunk of savings. and now it’s over.

it was not enough, but not everyone can afford a 10-day digital-detox in fiji. maybe there are lighthouse keepers still needed somewhere.
